I enjoyed reading your post, but I did notice you are using my photo of Silene Rolly's Favorite without a photo credit.
This photo was taken at Plant Paradise Country Gardens (in Caledon Ontario) by me. An up close photo of this same image is also in my book, A Recipe for Continuous Bloom.

Scott,
Growing up, I saw pink only in bubble gum, birthday cake icing, neon signs, and in ribbons found in little girls' hair. I never planted pink flowers until my wife asked for a pastel English-style garden. When I became aware of the emotional effect that pink flowers had on everyone that visited my garden, I decided to pay special attention to that color. People's reaction to it is a puzzling phenomenon of human nature.

I live near Chicago and the forsythia bloom amid a riot of yellow daffodils as well different shades of hyacinth and tulips. You'd love late March and early April here :)

Allan, Thank you for this blog post. I greatly appreciate your kind words and generous praise. Could I make one small correction? The blog name is Glen Villa: Site and Insight. The name comes from a phrase I read some years ago, written by John Dixon Hunt of the University of Pennsylvania. He used three terms, sight, site and insight. I think that is good advice for any garden designer. In fact, it's telling me I need to head outside to put my eyes to work!
